My Day in Pictures

We have staff devotions each morning in the teacher work room. Yesterday, as I came into the room, I walked past the teacher mailboxes, and there was a box for me. Woo hoo! It had a blanket in it. I like to have a little weight on my when I sleep, so I needed a blanket. Lauren had a spare. She also sent a Spam cutter. The other teachers were amazed. They had never seen such a thing. When I returned to my classroom, I was handed a bag. It had two nice bath towels in it from a school parent. Cool!
Wonderful!

At lunch, Justin, the teacher in the room next to me, came into my room with a bag full of oranges. He said he had picked them from the yard in front of his apartment. From his yard! Amazing!
It was very juicy.

Right after school, I called Rosie. It was 8:30pm in Baltimore. She was having Bible study, but she answered anyway. I just had one question for her: Is it normal for students studying grammar to completely forget something they’ve already learned earlier in the year? Her answer: Yes. Thanks, Rosie! That made me feel better.
She couldn't talk long - she had to get back to her guests.

I went to a Bible study myself in the evening. It was nice to hang out and talk, even though I got home late. But when I got home, a surprise was waiting:
It's not made of paper!

My actual license came in the mail! Yay! I’m now a card-carrying Hawaiian.

    1. That Lauren – is there nothingshe can’t do/have/send you? I stand in awe. (Actually, I sit in my living room right now…but I digress.)
    2. Yea, I remember when my aunt & uncle lived in southeran California and everywhere we visited citrus fruit was ripe for the picking – right in front of ya’! Amazing stuff happens in that tropical climate ya.
    3. Come on – you knew that! (You just wanted to hear a familiar voice!) Not that I bring much to the table in the areas you’re teaching now (ex., the only thing I remember from high school geography is that the Union of South Africa exports orange marmalade…or, at least it did when I was in high school…?), but ‘call me maybe’ anytime. Well, ok, not after about 9 pm eastern please. 😉
    4. THANK YOU! I now have a total address for our friend, Brad, so I might actually send him something some day! Now all I need is some clever ideas of what to send him, time to gather them, and the opportunity to hit the post office when they are open. Translation: don’t hold your breath.
    5. Congratulations you non-haole (if the web site I used for Hawaian words is correct)!!

So, if fruit is just growing all over the place in the dead of winter, you could technically live on the beach, yes? Here, you can pick yourself a bag full of icicles. Mmmm…. not so juicy.

I’m glad the SPAM cutter is getting the love and attention it so richly deserves. 🙂 Maybe you have a Flat Stanley-style adventure with it. “Here it is at the beach!” “Here it is by the volcano!:

I’m unfortunately not a hugh fruit eater, but if the fruit is sweet….then I’m in. I meant to say the other day that I would have loved to have tried that pineapple you had! And now sweet juicy oranges. (that sounds like an exclamatory phrase…Sweet juicy oranges….what a delightful time you’re having in Hawaii!)

And it must feel like Christmas in July to you….what with all the gifts & warm temperatures! Ho ho ho! I mean, Ya ya ya!

Btw: We had a light dusting of snow last night and all your teacher friends have a 2 hour delay today. Not universities though, but I’m not complaining…the drive to work was great!

Your driver’s license is good for eight years???? Nebraska is good for five.

I see that you’re the “GRAD SCHOOL” new teacher, according to the towel envelope.
