Song Bird

The bougainvillea bushes behind my classroom are full of wildlife. There is a rooster that lives there. I hear him regularly in the mornings. He is elusive though. I hardly ever see him. Yesterday as I was walking to the office, I heard a bird singing really loudly. It was an unfamiliar bird call, so I stopped and tried to find the bird. It was perched about as high as it could be, and it was singing like crazy. The internet says it’s a Japanese White Eye. I think I know why.

I miss watching the birds out my window like I used to do in Baltimore. I would set up a bird feeder on my lanai, but I don’t think my downstairs neighbor would appreciate all the bird poop and discarded seeds that would litter her yard. I guess for now I’ll just have to keep watching the bougainvillea bushes.

    What a pretty bird!

I’m glad we aren’t named for our striking features. I’d be a ‘Nebraskan Slouch Back’.

I would have called that bird the, “yellow ‘whoa, did you see that?’.”

I love how you take time to stop and notice the world around you and then share it with all of us – Thank you.
