Deliciousness Delivered

I really like grilled cheese sandwiches. I can make them at home, and they are very delicious, but I also like to order them from little carryout places. There is something about a grilled cheese that is cooked on a giant, hot, flat sheet of metal. I used to be able to order grilled cheeses from right across the street from my house, but they changed how they make them, and I don’t like them at all now. I’ve been on the hunt for a good grilled cheese place ever since.

Near my work place is a carryout restaurant that my co-workers often order from. When they order, they ask around if anyone else wants to get something. I looked on the menu, and there it was: grilled cheese.

It was delicious. And it came with applesauce, because it was from the children’s menu! Awesome!

A tasty pairing.

Long live the children’s menu! Many a chicken nugget has undoubtedly been ordered from them as well.

I’ve not had a good grilled cheese sandwich – the kind with the crispy brown edges of overcooked melted cheese on them – in ages. Thank you for allowing me vicarious pleasure reading this post. Glad you found a good local source. Enjoy!

Mmmmmm….. You are right about the big, flat griddle – the food that comes from there is just different from home cooking. Why is that?

At school, our cook makes grilled cheese in the oven. They are all lined up on a baking sheet, baked for a bunch of minutes, then done. They are wonderfully crispy on the outside and fairly soft on the inside, but the texture is a little different. We need a giant griddle.

I guess I just don’t get grilled cheese. I mean can you mess this up with only 2 ingredients????
