Amazing Glaze

One of the doctors at my workplace organized a group trip to a place called Amazing Glaze. The idea is that you select an unglazed ceramic, paint some colored slip on it, then they fire it and give the finished product back to you. It was so fun!

First you choose what you will glaze. I had a hard time deciding. I settled on a flower pot. There were so many things things to choose from.

I almost chose a really big mug.

After you choose your item, you select from a whole bunch of different colors of glaze. That decision was even harder for me. After you choose your colors, you sit and talk while you paint your item. That was my favorite part.

We had rented the whole place for the night.

I wanted to do something with swirly colors, but my brush wasn’t doing it right, so I switched to my finger:

I like how it smelled - kind of like dirt.

The person across from me was a co-worker’s mom. She used a stencil to trace some owls on a pitcher, then painted them. I really liked her design.

I hope I get to see it after it's fired.

I definitely want to do this again. If anyone ever goes, let me know. I want to come along.

The name of that place is hilarious! Kudos to the namer!

There is a place like that in Lincoln, but I can’t remember the name of it. We went for a co-worker’s birthday and I was surprised how much I enjoyed myself. Paint Yourself Silly – that’s the name. (It’s not nearly as clever.)

Can’t wait to see your pot when it’s done!

What fun! Your workplace really has some super cool ideas on things to do as a group!!

I really wish Vicky’s was still around. I really think a place like that would do a booming busy.
