The Fruit of the Vine

I worked in the garden a little bit more yesterday. I’ve been growing some vegetables this summer – cucumbers, tomatoes, and bell peppers. It’s taken a while, but the cucumbers are finally producing. The pepper plants have a few fruits on them, but are otherwise small. The tomato plants are covered with fruits, but they are all green. Green, green, green. I have been craving a fresh, vine-ripened tomato.

Home grown.

Home grown.

I picked some things. The cucumbers and pepper were ready to be picked, and were delicious. The tomato wasn’t ready, but I accidentally pulled it off the vine. It will sit in the window sill until it turns the rest-of-the-way yellow. They are yellow tomatoes. I hope I like the taste of this variety, because I will have a TON of them when they start ripening.

Holy cow! It’s like a farmer’s market in your backyard! I envy people who can grow and maintain gardens. People like me thank all the people like you, or else we would die of starvation.

Your harvest is very impressive!! But can you tell me farmer man, why does the cheese stand alone?

    Hi ho the derry o…..

Is it one of those smelly cheeses? If so, I have a pretty good guess why it stands alone.

I cursed you the other day when I had to BUY 4 locally grown cucumbers to make cucumber salad. Just sayin’

Dang it… I need to bring you some. My constant evening shifts are leaving me forgetful and lethargic in the mornings.

Ha! I’ve never heard that song.
“Only two things that money can’t buy – and that’s true love and home grown tomatoes”
