It’s a Trap!

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of mail from Baltimore City about my sewer pipes. Apparently, if there is some kind of blockage or break in the pipes between my house and the street, I’m liable for the costs. According to Baltimore City, for a low, low monthly price to some private company that Baltimore City has a special relationship with, I can be protected against any unfortunate “accident” that might happen.

I have a very uneasy feeling about this…

What would you do in an emergency?

Yea, yea, yea…we get the same junque mail. Do you even have any large trees near your home to be concerned about this?

I find those mailings recycle very well.

That is crazy. Can you check on them with the Better Business Bureau? They’re probably called the Sewer Line Mob.

    That’s fishy.

I’ve even seen a commercial about that on TV … something about having insurance to cover those pipes. Hmmm…

And what is the low, low monthly cost?

It is true that you are responsible for the cost if it’s on your property. I had this happen to me. But my home owners insurance covered the cost.

I got that too… I am going to call Statefaem and see if my insurance already covers that… I mean it should right? Sounds like the city is just trying to mitigate the cost of repairing these old underground pipes to me… there have been a lot of water main breaks.
