Tie Tags

Because of the smoke damage in my house a couple of years ago, all of my ties were dry cleaned. When they dry cleaned my ties, they tagged all of them with little pieces of paper. Since I wasn’t teaching, I only wore just a few of my “church worthy” ties. That means all the other ones still have their little tags on them.

In my new teaching position, as I slowly make my way through my tie collection, I’ve been pulling off the tags each day. It is actually kind of satisfying. Some of the tags are pinned on with safety pins, but most are stapled. I bend one side of the staple open, pull it out, and bend the other side.

Maybe I should go through and staple new labels to ties I’ve already worn. Then I could enjoy the process all over again!

This tie is in rough shape because I used to use it to play with Ned.

You must have quite the collection of safety pins and bent staples then, eh?

    Ah, Ned mem’ries…

Now the only question seems to be what to do with all the pink slips with your name on them, right?

Yeah, some kind of collage! (A photo collage, though, so you could throw them away when you’re done.)

What a fun ritual – like having a new tie every day!

    You should:

    1. Put a bar code on the back of each tie.
    2. Scan the barcode when you wear the tie.
    3. ???
    4. Profit!
