Snowy Sunday (again)

Yesterday was the third Sunday in a row that we’ve had some snow event messing with church services. It started snowing around 8am, then over time the snow turned to sleet and freezing rain.

I arrived at church early so I could get some things organized for school. I was cantoring in church, so I was going to attend both early and late services. After early service, there was a coating of snow on the ground. I started checking weather reports and traffic cameras. Before late church started, I concluded that I should head home.

On my drive home, the snow had switched over to sleet. The snow had stuck, even to main roads. It was messy, but thankfully I made it home with no incident.

After I got home, the freezing rain came. It had been so cold the last few days that rain easily froze on the ground. I stayed in the rest of the day, leaving only once to walk across the street for a chef salad. The ice was making lots of icicles.

At least my door wasn't frozen shut. I checked.

Good grief – you guys can’t cut a break! I hope that school was either cancelled or a late start. Either way – I hope you are safe now.

School was delayed, then changed to canceled. This time I was still at home when the change was announced. So, no icy driving for me. Though I might be in school until July if we keep having snow days at this rate.

Can’t speak for Emmanuel, but we’ve only used a few snow days and have 7 built in, I think – it’s those stinkin’ 2-hr delays that wreak havoc with lesson plans. Bye-bye tests/labs/anything that takes more than 32 minutes to perform well. Hope you can enjoy the day – with the sun out, you might well be able to get outside later today yet. I’m content to stay in/off the sidewalks and roads and let God melt all the ice that coated everything yesterday..and stitch…and watch movies…and bake…

With school possibly going into July, does that mean that 4th of July is at your house this year?

Haha! Sure! We’ll have our own parade. I’ll have to start rounding up Czech queens.
