Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

It Tastes Like Green

Beth often does juice-only days, and when she heard that doing a shot of wheat grass juice was on my list, she suggested we do a juice day yesterday. Being the adventurous sort when it comes to food, I agreed.

We began at Whole Foods, where we had the wheat grass shot:

Through the teeth and over the gums, look out stomach, here it comes.

It tasted like a lawn smells when it is being mown. I really liked it. I would definitely have it again.

We also got bigger cups of juiced vegetables. I can’t remember what was in these, but it was lots of ingredients. It was very fresh tasting. I told Beth it tasted like green.

Tasty!

We spent some time at an audition, where Beth helped with a difficult casting decision. It was fascinating to watch the auditions and to hear the discussion afterward.

I want to see the whole play now.

After the audition, we went to another juice bar, where we had a tumeric shot.

The yellow stained my fingers.

It has some bitterness to it, so the juice person gave us orange wedges to “chase” the shot with.

Sweet!

We also got some fresh juices in bottles for the road. One had beet juice in it. I really liked that one. We went to play rehearsal. I really enjoyed watching again. I’m sorry I won’t be able to see the final production. It happens two weeks before my school year is over.

When we got home, Beth had me try a shot of tonic, which tasted a little like vinegar, and a shot of aloe vera, which tasted a little like fresh Band-Aids smell. I “chased” both of them with an orange wedge.

Down the hatch!

We ended the evening with some homemade carrot and celery juice.

What was it like to have only juice during the day? It was interesting. I wasn’t as hungry as I thought I’d be. The juices all tasted fresh. I wouldn’t mind drinking them more often. By the end of the day, I did crave carbs though. Beth’s husband had pizza for dinner and had left the crusts on the kitchen counter. I almost slipped one into my pocket to eat later, but I held out.

Today we’re going out to eat. Mmm… solid food…

Fascinating! That green juice? You are brave to drink it. I’ll be interested to hear how this helped/interfered with your digestion. Not in great detail, though.

    Fun day!

You lost me at anything that ends in “grass” – that’s usually how spinach tastes when I’ve cooked it, as a matter of fact.

Brave, brave man…and your friend sounds like quite the creative lady – auditions, plays, tats, and all-juice days. Can’t say your break was uninteresting now, can ya’? But did you get to anything “touristy” yet/plan to? (e.g., Wizarding World of Youknowwho?)

I LOVE the pictures!! Looks like you 2 crazies are having a blast!! And I think it’s so awesome that you guys have stayed friends since high school!

(Now I’m in the mood to taste ‘green’. But I also wonder if you’ll be spending more time than usual on the throne today)
