Food and Ships

Yesterday was Denis’ birthday. Happy Belated Birthday, Denis! He threw himself a party and invited a bunch of his friends over. He got lots of tasty Filipino foods, plus steamed crabs. Yum!

His friends brought their children along. They loved Gus. I gave them things Gus likes to play with so they could befriend him. He played with them for a while, but then got tired and went upstairs. I was worried the kids would be bored, so I went to the basement to poke around for some kind of toys for them. I used to have some Hex Bugs and a track. Kids love those! But they were thrown away after the fire. My eyes fell upon my bag full of Lego blocks. I brought them up.

The kids loved them! I was so pleased. After they played with them for a while, I joined them. The firefighter ship was amongst the blocks, but it wasn’t the only thing. There was a 1970’s space ship set in there! Space ship! I didn’t remember how to assemble it, but I did try, and one of the boys loved it! He took over and made a magnificent original creation. I’ll have to search the internet to see if I can find the original instructions.

The littlest one just really liked a toy bulldozer that had somehow made it into the Lego bag.

Looks like a wonderful way to spend the day! Celebration and friends and food. Legos are always fun. I used to spend hours playing with my sons. It is interesting to see how creative they are when they build. I am happy that my grandson loves to build with his Mega Blocks ( big Legos). Can’t wait to see what he will come up with when he is able to use the smaller blocks.

Excellent! A bag of Legos should be on everyone’s ‘stuff to keep in my house’ list. (Except Sam’s. He went way overboard.) it sounds like a really great day. Happy belated Birthday, Denis!

As a Grandma, I couldn’t help but notice the “baby”….boy or girl?….was he/she ever awake to entertain you or be entertained? Was Gus intrigued by little one’s presence? or agitated & hiding? Since children are my “life”, I love to see and interact with them, too. I’m sure you enjoyed your day and your place was “quiet” when they all left. (Which is welcome, too, when that is what you are used to at your house) <3 Aunt Bev 🙂

Baby boy… Gabriel. He was asleep most of the time. Gus sniffed him a little, but he was more interested in the bigger kids. There were some thirteen year-old twins who played with Gus a lot.
