Grimm Breakfast

Yesterday was a stay-after-school day because I had handbell and choir practice. For dinner, I decided to go to the local diner and have breakfast. Yum! I wanted to take something to read. I want my next book to be Tuck Everlasting, which I have never read, and which is on the kids’ summer reading list. But I left my copy of the book at home. Not wanting to start some other novel, I took along my classroom copy of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. It made for delightful dinner company.

Mmm... Eggs and bacon...

Mmm… Eggs and bacon…

On my way home, I stopped at Walgreens, because I needed a new bottle of lotion for my classroom. The Walgreens really reminded me of Maui for some reason. I had a serious case of nostalgia.

The feeling of nostalgia didn’t get any weaker when I saw Bottle Caps in the candy aisle. Mmm… I had to get some.

The package looked weird, and the candy pieces were super tiny, but they tasted like they were supposed to. My custom is to eat the flavors from least favorite to most favorite, so root beer is first, and cola is last. Mmmm… cola flavored candy…

That’s how I eat Bottlecaps, too! It can be tricky because root beer and cola are so similar in color. (At least they were in my memory.) Bleh – trick root beer….

That breakfast looks scrumptious. Are those grits in the bowl?

Root beer is my favorite bottle cap flavor. Something is wrong with you people.

Yes, I think I like the root beer best too. Other people…sheesh.
And wait just a cotton pickin’ minute! Not only do they look smaller, but the shape is different too. Hard to believe this doesn’t affect the taste. Off to the store this weekend to investigate.

You guys are making me think if https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqCegJd2HRQ Root beer was my favorite flavor of these/them/that. They made my nose tickle. If I could find packages of them in stores now, I’d get some for my chemical reaction-doing 8th graders for one day this month. Time to go shopping…
