Courthouse Picnic

I chatted with my friend Russ for a while yesterday morning, then made a quick trip to Lincoln. By the time I got back, it was almost dinner time. Every Wednesday is cook-out night in the town square. Hamburgers and hot dogs are offered. I think who the sale benefits rotates to different groups. Last night it was the Seward high school band. As we stood in line, everyone said hi to Lauren. I felt like I was standing next to a celebrity.

My parents and Harold and Beth and kids were there too, as was Deborah. We all ate together on the courthouse lawn.

The courthouse has a spiral staircase on the side of it. You can see it in the picture above. Lauren went up and got a picture of our picnic layout:

I wore glasses in the afternoon because my left contact felt dry all day.

I’m so glad the weather cooled down by then – it was the perfect night for a picnic! The hamburgers were delightfully non-overcooked, too, which added to the pleasantness. Good company, good food (thanks to Beth’s amazing cooler)!
