Reminder

Yesterday was orientation and open house day. It was awesome. I loved seeing the kids. I have said this so many times I’ve lost count, so it shouldn’t surprise me any more, but it still does: when I see the kids at school again I forget all the tiresome paperwork, and I’m filled with energy and excitement.

During the last half hour of the day, there were a bunch of eighth graders hanging out in my room. I was grinning from ear to ear. Up to this point I’ve been feeling a little anxiety, but after yesterday, it was all gone. I’m so ready for school!

Lots of talking and laughing.

Very cool! That is confirmation that teaching is your calling. Have a great school year!

Yes – presence of students energizes a soul. Our orientation was 6:30-8:30+ Thursday evening, and though it was the longest day so far this year, I left campus pretty buoyant myself. Guess that’s a good sign?

[Wait – that’s not your room, is it? You got some 2-person flat topped “science” desks then? My new room has 4-6 different styles of desk in it – some flat top, some slanted, some blue seat backs, some brown seat backs, some with pencil trays…….. you get the idea. This could work to my advantage at times (e.g., “alright, anyone sitting in a seat without a book rack beneath it, go to the….”), but more often than not it is a tiny obstacle to seating arrangements, etc. I have 22 in there now and my largest class is 21, so if we get more than one shadow on any given school day I guess (s)he stands?]

Blessings on your Monday! We may need to network about Religion 7 at sometime throughout the year – maybe a class-to-class Skype could be worked out. I’ll have my girl call your girl, so to speak.
