Hot

Yesterday morning I felt really hot. I turned on my classroom air conditioner, but it couldn’t seem to keep up. I taught in two other classrooms, plus I had lunch duty. None of those spaces were cool enough to make me feel not hot. Was I sick? Was I having hot flashes? Was it just really hot at school?

I never figured it out. I drove home with the car air conditioner blasting on full power, and when I got home, I turned on the bedroom air conditioner so it would be full-on cold when I went to bed. It felt so good.

Hopefully today I won’t be as hot.

You’re probably not having hot flashes, but you certainly are experiencing what they are like. I’m so sorry. Have a big glass of ice water handy today. (For dumping on your head. 🙂 )

Did you go on a ridiculously long hike? You had to put ice on your head after that.

I second the putting ice on your head idea. A headband would be ideal for holding it on.

Hang in there, buy – you can do it! Four words for ya’: frog in the kettle. I wonder if your room A/C did what ours did in scenic Kuenne Hall today – gradually gave up the cooling ghost. Fine in the a.m. – okay after lunch – stuffy by 3 pm – miserable and we couldn’t get out of there fast enough by 5 pm. There’s some 50-year-old filter that needs replacing before the chiller can get its refrigerated water through all our pipes. Lovely. Tomorrow ought to be charming as well, as I understand replacement is a major youmightnothaveserviceforawhile kinda deal and it’s hardly going to be cool out. [Note to self: tomorrow, wear lots of baby powder under all clothing and bring bath spritzer for mid-day freshening….]
