Dog Day

My church had a “Blessing of the Animals” event yesterday since I was already there working, I attended the event. It wasn’t as well attended as it might have been because we’ve had so much rain and it’s gotten a little cold. Still, there were several people there, all with dogs.

We started with a short liturgy and prayer, then the pastor had everyone line up and he blessed all the dogs one by one. Some of them held still, but others were pretty squirmy.

The Westies were first.

The Westies were first.

After the blessings, there were some events. I measured tails for the the “longest tail” prize. One of the dogs got angry when I touched his tail, but I was ready for it, so I wasn’t scared.

Awwww….. bless their hearts. Literally. Did you take Gus, or is he perfect just the way he is and a blessing would be wasted?

(Someone needs to bless Wally. Bless that stupidness right out of him.)

Everything was moving along nicely until the guy with the ant farm showed up.

Awww……they’re all so cute. That one dog looks a lot like Forrest….except Forrest’s legs are 1/2 the size.

Did this event bring back happy memories of your vet days?
