Wild Ride

Teaching fourth graders has been a mix of frustration and fun. Learning about this new age group has been a wild ride. Overall, I’m enjoying it though. Such interesting new experiences.

Yesterday I got three notes from kids. Three! One of them said I was a good teacher, one of them was an apology for bad behavior, and one of them was a portrait. I will keep all three, but the portrait is going up in the “art gallery” area near my desk.

It's a pretty good likeness.

I’m flying to Nebraska after school today. My Aunt Gloria died. Please keep especially her kids in your prayers. Her funeral is tomorrow. I have many commitments on Thanksgiving, so I’ll be flying back to Baltimore again tomorrow. It will be a whirlwind trip, but business people do it all the time, right?

Hope you’re going Spirit if your trip is that short – you’d hardly have any clothing (they charge $50/bag to check or $55 to carry on, up to 40 lbs) and may be able to survive without food or water until you land (water bottles are $2.50 each, for example). Translation: they be crazy…

Otherwise, prayers with your family have been going up since I read Dad’s post to Fb – may our gracious Lord send peace and comfort to all she is leaving here (for the time being, at least). Safe journeys.

That drawing is practically a photo! That kid has skilz!

I never sent my condolences about your aunt. How good that you are coming out to be with family. Are you staying with us? Either way is fine – your bed is ready (but the room is a mess).

That kid must know your knickname, Ol’SquareCrotch.

I am not a personal trainer, but I think you ought to lay off the bench press and do a few more bicep curls.

Well, the kid pays attention to detail because your tie is there, as is your pen. Well done, young artist.
