When I was a kid, my mom had a purse that was made of some kind of metal mesh. It felt so soft, but it was made of metal. How was that possible? I think she only ever took it to church, where I compulsively touched it. It was so amazing!
Lately, when I’ve gone to stores, I’ve made a quick pass-through in the purse aisle to see if anyone still makes purses like that. Friday at TJ Maxx, I found one!
It was $16. I seriously considered buying it, but I didn’t know what I would do with it… maybe put it on my night stand and touch it each night before I go to sleep? …maybe keep it by my couch so I can pet it while I watch TV?
I decided not to get it. I already have so many things. This would be one more thing in my house, even though it would be a super-cool thing.
Still have it! Perhaps it will be under the tree all wrapped with Brad on the tag!
Sweeeeeet Story!!! Oh, Those Wonderful (Childhood) Memories!!! 🙂
I understand the allure, and applaud you for resisting the shopping urge. When I was little, my mom had a fur coat in the closet and I would open that closet door all the time to pet it and rub my face on it.
Noooo!!! I never clicked ‘post comment’!! I wrote this early this morning. Sorry ’bout that.
Lauren – my Mom’s coat hung in the cedar closet downstairs and I would do the same thing! (Were we separated at birth?)
Elaine – what a good Mom you are (willing to sacrifice her own belongings to give her son something to…pet?)!
