A Clipper

We have two kinds of winter storms in Baltimore: a nor’easter (which is what Jonas was), and a clipper storm (which we had yesterday). Nor’easters are by far the worse of the two. Clipper storms are much harder to predict though. As the meteorologist struggled yesterday morning to say what would happen, the public school systems announced a two hour delay.

I went to school at the regular time, because the snow that was falling was instantly melting when it hit the roads. I would get two extra hours of work time before the kids came in! Woo hoo! As I sat at my desk, 9am came and went, and there was still no one else at school. I checked online and found that schools were closed for the day.

It's hard to see, but a fair amount of flakes were falling.

I spent the whole morning in my classroom. I got a lot of clerical and organizational stuff done. It felt great. In between projects, I stopped to talk to Megan and Corrin. They seem to be more active in the morning than in the afternoon.

Corrin is in the hammock! I didn't think they'd use it.

After school I ran a few errands, then had a relaxing and guilt-free evening at home.

Hmmm. I never thought about different kinds of winter storms coming in, but the ocean really predicts what’s going to happen there, huh? How nice that you got an unexpected day to work, and in peace and quiet, too!

Your rat castle looks fun. I can’t believe I’m jealous of rats.

WHOA THERE! What happened to (checking back to older postings for names of male rodents formerly housed in your classroom….) those other furry guys?! And when did your room get two rats instead – and females?? I must have missed a mess a’ postings, and apologies for the need to repeat this – aw, heck, just tell me Monday.

…and congrats on the unscheduled work day! I’m getting smart (lazy?) in my old age and waited it out at home, knowing that if school were not closed I would be hitting the ground running coming in only 2 hrs later than normal. It’s 8:03 Wed. now, and it seems logical to me that the 2-hr delay will not change, so it’s “off to the showers, men” at this point. We’ll see if I guessed correctly on the other side of that experience.

…and blessings on your Ash Wednesday worship, all…

Hey, now you can stand in your room & shout “It’s a rat race in here!” and no one could argue.

And I think you should play them the song Ben. Great song. Or better yet, sing it to them with their names.
