Crate Full of Color

This coming Saturday is an event at my school called Spring Fling. It’s our biggest fund raiser. It’s kind of like a carnival in the parking lot and yard. Part of the fun is a silent auction. I LOVE silent auctions!

The PTL (which is the organizer of the event) has asked us teachers to donate something to the auction. Lately in my classroom, I’ve been leaving out those detailed coloring pages that have been so popular lately, so I decided I’d put together a coloring kit. It has markers, colored pencils, coloring books, and a blank page sketch book. I’m hoping kids will like it and encourage their parents to spend lots of money getting it.

I was shopping at Michael's, so I could get a little crate to hold everything.

That looks like a box full of fun and relaxation. Ahhhhh……

My kids draw all the time, and the older girls usually draw geometric-y shapes to color, then talk as they fill them in. Coloring is a social/relaxing activity – I think that’s why adults are into it, too. It’s like paper meditation.

Good idea. I put out those types of coloring pages for grandparents day. Kids and adults loved it!

Brilliant, and so timely. I know of several current colleagues who would bid on something like that. Now to have the leisure time to use it…
