Yesterday was our school’s big PTL fundraiser. It’s kind of a carnival thing. Because it’s been raining so much, they decided to have the event inside.
It was really fun. There was a silent auction, a rummage sale, carnival games for the kids, music, and food. My favorite event was the pie eating contest. I participated in the adult group, but went too slowly. I wasn’t even half done before the winner won.
I wasn’t paying attention to the silent auction cutoff time, so I missed it. I still won something: a bucket of Fisher’s caramel popcorn. Mmmm…
I was more excited about something I got at the rummage sale: a painting. The artist was even there when I bought it. She had several paint-by-number items there and was really pleased one was being bought. I bought it facetiously, but I really do like how much joy it gave people who saw it. As I was carrying it around, anyone who saw it smiled. I think I will hang it in my classroom.
Behold, the spectacular and magical unicorn:
Spectacular, indeed! I was reading a book about a wish-granting magical pebble with my kids and then we all said what we would wish for. The girl who wished for a magical unicorn was the hands-down winner. All the other wishes had a downside. “I wish for everyone in the world to be babies.” Think that through, Madison.
