It’s a Wash

I spent a ton of money yesterday.

My brakes were grinding on Friday, so I took my truck in. I ended up getting new brake pads and rotors, an oil change, and an alignment. It was a big bill, but at least my truck is ready for my big drive to Nebraska this summer.

I was taking this picture without looking, so it's not very good.

My washing machine failed yesterday. The hot water already hadn’t been working for a couple of weeks. Yesterday, it wouldn’t go into the rinse cycle or drain the water out. I decided not to mess around. I did some quick research online, then went to Home Depot and ordered a new machine. It comes on Saturday. That’s just in time for my weekly washing of my teacher shirts.

Somehow I have to get all the water out of there.

I’m going to be in my neighborhood garden show on June 4. It used to be a long way off, but now it’s less than two weeks. All the rain has delayed my preparations. The biggest transformation will happen when I put down new mulch. I’ve decided to have a dump truck deliver it. It’s more work than getting bags at the home improvement store, but it’s cheaper. Five yards of mulch delivered to my door is more expensive than the last time I ordered it.

Here’s the cool thing: I signed my mortgage refinance papers on Friday. Not only will I have a bunch of money when the paperwork clears, I will not have to make a debt payment until June 30. As it happens, my current debt payments are almost the same as the amount I spent yesterday. Nice.

Holy. Cow. That’s several weeks of stress in one big bundle! I’m glad your truck is safe now and your clothes will be clean, but geez. If I lived closer I’d come bail out that washing machine for you.

Do they do the thing where they dump it into your truck there?

The mulch? They do, but my truck might only barely hold one yard of mulch. I want five.
