Moving Mulch

After church yesterday, I worked in my garden all day! Woo hoo!

I wanted to put down the mulch I got on Wednesday. There were a lot of things I wanted to do first, so it took a while for me to start mulching, but finally I just went for it. It’s supposed to rain today, so if I didn’t get the mulch spread, I’d have to do it in the rain, or I’d have to wait until later this week.

I worked for hours and hours. I grunted and panted and drank water and sweated. I had to lay the mulch on thick because there were so many weeds. So… many… weeds…

Finally, at six o’clock, the pile of mulch was gone. I was exhausted. It was more physical activity than I had done in at least a year. Whew!

The good news is that I got all my garden beds mulched. The bad news is that there’s a corner of my yard that isn’t planted with anything, and I didn’t have enough mulch to cover it. Fortunately, I have Friday off, so I can get some bagged mulch and finish the job before the garden show on Saturday.

Heres’ the before and after:

Good heavens, that is a ton of work, but it looks totally worth it. Your yard looks like a garden center.

Here’s hoping you’re not too sore today!

Good for you! Looks fabulous! What a quaint, beautiful area you have. I haven’t mulched this year yet and really need to do it. It’s a challenge to get to the backyard from the front since we’ve fenced ourselves in so I have to get a plan . Ha
