Say Cheese

I was eating peanut butter and jelly for lunch every day at the beginning of the school year. A few weeks ago I switched to cheese sandwiches (bread, cheese, bread) because they were quicker to make. Peanut butter and jelly involved utensils and washing and stuff. With cheese sandwiches, I’m finished making lunch and on my way in only a couple of minutes.

They taste okay I guess. I used to like them better a few weeks ago. Really all my lunch is supposed to do is keep me alive, so I never really enjoy it. I’m usually just shoving it in my mouth while I sit at my desk working on something.

My bigger and tastier meal is definitely dinner.

I don't eat the heel until the end of the loaf. In my mind, leaving the heel on keeps the end slice from drying out.

I agree with you about the heel. I do that, too.

I eat my lunch with the kids in a deafening lunchroom. I usually eat part of it standing up so I can make sure everyone is behaving. So my enjoyable meal is also supper.

You are right about the end of the loaf keeping it from drying out, but I gotta say, Brad, you are eating prison food. I completely get it, but a cheese sandwich? That’s pretty minimal. Maybe you should look into having an i.v. system – no eating required! 😉

When I was a kid, I always said I could never be a mom because they had to eat the heel. Turns out when you have 3 kids, you can make THEM eat the heel and they really don’t care. I win!

Ewww…..on all fronts. The cheese & the heels. The birds and ducks get my heels. I never eat them. But I do keep them in the bag to keep the others fresh.

(Really all my lunch is supposed to do is keep me alive……HA! And sorry, I love my lunch break.)

Yes, the heel is the “lid” to the loaf! I go in a couple of slices at the beginning too so they are nice and fresh. I’m glad you are still alive due to your lunches!
