Well Begun

Yesterday after school was the allotted time for my students to help me fix the hole in the wall they accidentally made. I cut a rectangle around the hole, and they helped get all the pieces out. The parts under the corner bead were really stuck in there, so they worked at it for a long time.

Chipping and chiseling.

I got the last little pieces out after they left:

I was staying late for bells anyway, so I kept working on it. I got a patch piece put in:

I also got the tape and the first layer of patching compound on. I forgot to take a picture of it. It’s going to look really unfinished for church on Sunday morning, but I can’t do much about that. Each layer of patching compound I put on will require 24 hours of drying time before I put on the next layer.

That is very impressive – both the fixing and the teaching. Are they going to post a little explanation note beside it?

Steel studs around a concrete wall? That is a pretty strong structure.
