Change

Some time in the last couple of years, I stopped using cash. I used to use cash for small purchases like candy bars or coffee. Now, I only keep cash in my wallet for two reasons:
1) If I am eating at a restaurant with a friend and we get one check instead of two, I like to have cash to pay my half
2) If I am getting carryout from my regular places, I like to put cash in their tip jar

Back before I stopped using cash, I would generate tons of loose change and would have to take care of it regularly. I am no longer generating change, but I still have some coins. I rolled them yesterday. It will end up being more than $100. That’s a nice chunk of change.

Cash is so filthy. Yuck.

Hooray! That’s a nice chunk of change and a big chunk of time. How long did it take to roll those coins?

Our bank will sort them for you, but it’s embarrassing when they mention how gross the coins are. That crock of coins is pretty disgusting.

It was more than two hours. I often talk about how I will pay for convenience, and might have taken these to my bank (even though they charge for sorting coins), but it gave me an excuse to sit in front of the TV. I was sitting on the couch and being productive!

Why am I thinking of a commercial about end-of-life expenses about now? You know, the one with the man who relates how “back in the day” he would collect just the change from breaking a dollar that day – and it was enough to cover some insurance premium today? So…have you any plans for your new-found wealth?
