Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Good Guy

I had planned to leave yesterday, but too many last-minute things came up. Two of those things were trips to the dump. I’ve gone five times this week, and each time I went to the one nearest my house, the same guy was in the “greeter” position. He was SO nice! After unloading my last truckload, I stopped to talk to him.

“Other guys have really given me a hard time,” I said, “but you have been so nice to me”. And then I got a little teary. All these serious good-byes with friends who are as close as family to me, and the person I get teary with is the dump guy! I think my emotion chip is malfunctioning.

He said he was nice to everybody as much as he could be, because he had the spirit of God in him. Then he proceeded to talk about his Christian faith. How wonderful! I identified myself as Christian, and he said: “See – we could feel the Spirit in each other.” Dang it, Dump Guy, you’re going to make me teary again.

I didn’t take a picture of him. Instead, here’s a picture of Gus:

Dang it, Dump Guy. Dang it, Baltimore. That’s a sad story but also a really good story. I’m so glad to hear of a person sharing their faith at in the Real World – I am always amazed at that.

(Gus is adorable, by the way. I like the high-rise bed.)

After numerous teary moments Tuesday thinking about you leaving Baltimore for good, Wednesday was a day of just wondering if you really left. Almost texted but didn’t in case you were driving. Dang it Brad! Dang it!
Assuming today is the day. Be safe brother!

What a great memory for your final moments here!! (And, frankly, not surprised you didn’t leave yesterday – looked like it would have taken more than the two of you to get everything done by “mid day”…guess I needn’t check on Gus until tomorrow then?) God puts people where we need them to be to give us support when we need it most. And I know there will be other supporters-in-the-faith as you travel/relocate. Hugging you from Rosedale…

I’m crying and cracking up! Sometimes the dump can be uplifting. I’ve been “hit on” at our dump by the new dump guy. Compliment? Dang it dump guy! Lol
