Check and Check

Happy Birthday to Michele! Yay!
And Happy Bradaptation Day! It’s the 11th anniversary of my first contiguous post! Woo hoo! Wait… can I use contiguous to describe a single item? Maybe I should say “It’s the 11th anniversary of the first of my contiguous posts!” Yes, that sounds better.

I have a list of things I want to get for school and for home. Some of them just require me to go to the right store – easy peasy. But some of the items have been downright difficult to find. Yesterday I found two of my difficult items. Two!

The first item was a shoe horn. I wanted a long one so I could put on my shoes without bending over. I couldn’t even find a short one. I went to all the box stores and department stores. I finally found one at Payless shoe store in the mall. Yay! I can put on my shoes with less effort!

It's not as long as I'd like it to be, but it's way better than nothing.

The second item was a skinny trash can. I want to keep my trash can in the closet next to the kitchen, but the space is so skinny. When I was here in 2013, I used a laundry basket. I haven’t seen any skinny enough. Then yesterday at Home Depot, I saw the “Slim Jim” trash can. It fits perfectly! Woo hoo! Plus, it uses 33 gallon trash bags instead of 13 gallon. Nice! I can fit more trash in there!

Let the trashing begin!

Congratulations on your successful quests! Maui has provided!

Are the rolled-up things in the closet vertical blinds? Leftover baseboard? Snakes?

    • Brad

It’s baseboard. There are a few construction-type things in that closet, but I’m just shoving them to the side and putting other stuff there too.

  2. Karla

Where does trash go in Hawaii? Does it get tossed in a volcano?

    • Brad

That sent me down an internet rabbit hole. Short answer: it’s buried or burned.

      • Karla

        Burned? In a volcano??

        • Brad

In a power plant. I don’t think volcanoes are involved.

          • Karla

That’s such a waste since they’re so readily available there.

Awww thanks for the birthday greeting!
Happy 11th anniversary Bradaptation! It just so happens my new age is a multiple of 11.
I had a very strange dream last night that you came back for a visit and hosted a bunch of little kids for a dinner party. Too much to describe in a comment. Just weird.

    • Brad

I’ve been having lots of weird dreams lately. I don’t remember hosting a dream dinner party last night though.

Happy Brad-a-versary! Go glad to be part of the flock here.

Had you used a shoe horn before and neglected to pack it, or is this a new idea to make the need for bending below waist level obsolete?

The perfect trash can is not an easy thing to find, I agree. Our new kitchen one is shorter than the last and the lid tends to catch on garbage already put into it once it is over half full. Methinks another trash can expedition might soon be in order…

    HAPPY (33rd ?) BIRTHDAY (AGAIN), MICHELE!! 😉

    • Brad

I had a long shoe horn in Baltimore. I was using it daily and I guess I just forgot that I would need to bring it along.

Happy anniversary to your memories! You are SO awesome to keep up with your posts every day. I love reading them…..but don’t do it everyday? I know you can tell when I’m catching up. Ha glad you found a shoe horn! Those are a lost art huh?
