Supportive Celebrating

When kids at school have birthdays, they bring treats in for their class. When they have leftover treats, they bring them around to other teachers. Today during Math class, a fourth grader came knocking at the door and offered me a treat. It was fancy and beautiful and delicious looking.

It was sweet and chocolatey and berry-like.

My students always try to get me to give them some or all of the treats, but I decline. I feel like it betrays the spirit of the giving to give it away to others. I eat the treats to honor the birthday. Happy Birthday, Kainalu!

Ha! They must look at you with daggers in their eyes as you savor it.

Is that strawberry, brownie bite, marshmallow, strawberrry? That is lovely. 🙂
