Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Whip

I had dinner at David and Barbara’s house last night. It was delicious. I was stuffed!

Dessert included the dairy topping you spray from a can. I always remembered it to be called Reddi Whip. Is that what you thought too? It’s not:

There’s no H! It’s ‘wip’. It blew my mind. I wonder if this is another item for the list in regard to the Mandela Effect. Did you remember an H? And just what is the name of that bear family in the children’s picture books?

Well, that was a whole informational rabbit hole I just went down. Thanks for that. All I know is, “It’s a dessert topping! It’s a floor wax! It’s both!”

I know the bear answer! The authors are Stan and Jan Berenstain, but the bear family name gets spelled both ways. One of my children brought in a collection of their stories yesterday. The very first one had very disturbing illustrations – the bears were all skinny and weird-looking.

Are you kidding me? It’s ALWAYS had the H in it. What other things should have gone through spell-check??????

We have a can in our fridge right now – no h!! What’s up with that???

The commercial product in a can has always been misspelled “Reddi-wip”: in the cutesy-poo advertising fashion. The thing with a string on the end, for hitting horses, was and is a “whip.” Putting “wip” on a can didn’t change the conventional spelling of “whip” — just as putting “Reddi” on that can hasn’t changed the conventional spelling of “ready.”
