I slept in yesterday again. This time zone thing is really hard to adjust to. Plus, I’m feeling lazy because it’s vacation. By the time I woke up, the repair man was at Lloyd and Lauren’s to fix their ceiling upstairs. It was right at the stairs, so I just stayed in bed an extra long time.
Beth called and said she’d be going to Orscheln, a local hardware store. It has all kinds of awesome farm equipment, so I totally wanted to go. It wasn’t disappointing. I wanted to buy lots of stuff. I only got some t-shirts.
After a couple more stops, Beth took me to her house. She was feeding the college basketball team a turkey dinner and she invited me to have some. Yum! Beth introduced me to a new idea. Instead of using a knife to get the meat off the turkey, she uses gloves. She calls them her turkey gloves. They are dedicated solely to turkey.
I waited until the basketball team had their fill, then had some turkey and mashed potatoes. Mmm…
Aww…. Smokey just wants his own plate. 🙂
The turkey glove idea is brilliant. Now I see that using a knife is foolish – just pull it apart! Faster and less frustrating.
That turkey looks AMAZING. After this “fun” bout with influenza, I’m finally starting to feel hungry again. I think the last good amount of food I had was at the hotel Friday night! Sorry I didn’t say goodbye Sat morn. The sickness hit me hard…and fast.
I am so sorry that you were sick! Glad to hear you are on the upswing and I hope you feel much, much better soon. 🙂
Thanks, Lauren. If I had known how sick I was going to be Sat-this week, I probably wouldn’t have come out on Friday. I guess I’m glad I didn’t know because I had a great time that night!
Only one question: who goes to a hardware store to buy…a T-shirt?
Nice glove idea, Beth – I thought of Dexter’s Mom for a bit, then realized hers were always yellow, though. (http://clipart.toonarific.com/data/media/31/dexter-ma002.gif)
