Eight Dollar Flowers

Almost every time I go to the grocery store, I stop by the floral department and look at the cut flowers. Most times, I smell them too. I like the the smell of carnations. I really like the smell of oriental lilies.

I usually don’t buy any flowers, because it seems like a waste of money. They don’t keep me alive like food does. They also fade after a few days. Are flowers really worth eight dollars?

On Sunday they were. I got some lilies. They smell amazing.

Treat Yo’self! (Have you watched Parks and Rec?) I think that was a fine use for money – a delightful treat!

You picked the right spot for it, too. That is a lovely vignette. (Hmm. While spell-checking that, I think I’ve been using that word wrong.)

Russell and I had star gazer lilies at our wedding. What a nice way to start my day! I may get some today also! I can almost smell them now!

Your Dad bought flowers for me soooo often. I love them and guess what, now I buy them too. They just add beauty to a home.

I think those are the sort of lily I hope to be in a funeral spray for me when my time comes. Very pretty…

…and yes, you’re worth it. [My late friend, Sandy, would stop at a floral warehouse near her home every end-of-week to get fresh flowers for her home. They were quite pick-me-up for her.]
