Weeks of Warm

Yesterday was Groundhog Day. Even before school started here, Punxsutawney Phil had already predicted six more weeks of winter. It seemed weird, because in Maui, it was an extra warm day yesterday.

Before school starts, I often walk from my room to the office. The sun rose in a cloudy sky. Punxsutawney Phil would not have seen his shadow here. But it did make for a spectacular sunrise.

Candlemas? Good grief, you know so much.

I read a good joke. Let’s see if I can find it.

At the end of the sixth day, as God and the angels were wrapping up creating all of the heavens and the earth, the angels looked to God and asked, “God, we are close to done but we have a few questions. What are the ends of the seasons?”

“My beloved, Spring ends in May, Summer ends in September and Fall ends in December.”

“But Lord,” the angels ask, “what of the winter?”

“My beloved,” God replies, “let the weird dirt otter thing decide that.”
