Ocean Center

Barbara got some free passes to the Maui Ocean Center because she is a teacher who is bringing a group of kids there. She gave me one of the passes, and we went yesterday.

We kind of rushed through, but it was super cool. The displays are really interactive. The most was a place where you could actually touch the sea creatures. It was cool!

Starfish!

We caught several presentations where the workers talked about the animals in the displays. They were so interesting. We got to see the some sea turtles eat green bell peppers. Ha!

The shark tank was really cool. While we were there, a diver got in the water and talked to us through a special dive mask. He told us a lot about sharks.

I got a little sleepy because it was dark.

There was also a tunnel through the water. I might have stayed there for a while, but I didn’t want to get left behind by my group.

This was part of the shark tank too.

I definitely want to go back and take a more leisurely stroll through the exhibits. It’s kind of pricey though. Maybe it’s more of a summer vacation kind of activity, where I don’t have to worry about going to school the next day.

It is so interesting that you have an ocean center and – only a couple of miles away – an actual ocean. There’s a cook shark exhibit at the Omaha zoo, but that’s all. You couldn’t go out in the cornfield and encounter actual sea creatures.

What a great way to spend Sunday! Barbara is awesome! 🙂

sounds like the National Aquarium in Baltimore, four day passes was close to the annual family membership! Sounds really cool though…hope you get back soon!
