When the people of Maui woke up yesterday morning, there was snow on Haleakala!
We had already planned to drive to the top yesterday, and the snow didn’t change our mind. But when we got to the entrance to the national park, there was standstill traffic. We sat there for well over an hour. We couldn’t figure out what it was. Turns out, it was just volume. I had forgotten how rare snow is in Hawaii.
The snow at the top was magical.
It was so fun watching people in the snow. They were giggling and smiling and laughing. People were making snowballs and posing for pictures and making snowmen. It was heartwarming.
We ended our time on the volcano with a stop at the winery. The grounds there are beautiful, particularly the gigantic trees.
A quick stop at Walmart, and we were home again. I had to go to bed early. I have school today.
What?? That is crazy! You truly live in a magical place. 🙂 We have a nice glaze of ice and a little snow, but no one’s flocking to see it here.
Oh….so you were off for President’s Day? I thought maybe you got a snow day!
Beautiful!! I LOVE the picture with the people in it. A great shot!!
