I went to the mall after school yesterday to get movie tickets for “A Wrinkle in Time”. We’re taking the seventh and eighth graders there a week from today. I kind of like the reserved-seat thing. It seems to be becoming more prevalent.
On my way out of the mall, I saw this:
They are actual, working payphones! How interesting! It’s funny, because my reaction to seeing them was that there is no way I’d ever touch them. My cell phone is probably dirtier than them though, according to things I’ve read. I should probably clean my phone with a disinfecting wipe…
Awww…. real phones! Thank goodness they don’t have rotary dials or people would be too confused to function.
I wonder if landlines still have an extra charge for long-distance calls? It seems like distance doesn’t matter anymore.
Here’s an interesting fact… a lot of places here don’t include their area code when they list their phone number because all of Hawaii is 808. A kid borrowed my cell phone on the band trip to call his parents and his call wasn’t going through because he didn’t actually dial the area code. I had to explain to him that my phone had a different area code on it.
And one of the phones is shorter than the other!!!
Ha! I didn’t notice that! It must be the phone for little kids! 🙂
Actually, it’s probably for people in wheel chairs, but it’s fun to imagine a four year old using that far-left phone.
I’m only sad they weren’t booths – no Superman references possible this way. Rats.
Your germ fear reminds me of a current 6th grade gal which whom I am working who is so phobic that she pulls her long-sleeved polo over her hand to write with borrowed pencils, washes her hands so often they are cracked and dry, and whines about imminent death if she gets a paper cut and has no disinfectant or band-aid on her. Don’t be her. ‘kay?
I’ve never seen a pay phone so pretty! Love the flowers on the sides!! How much is it to make a call? $1.25? LOL
