Prodigious Pizza

I went out to dinner last night. We ate at Pizza in Paradise, which is a delicious pizza joint in Kahului. We decided to get one of their specialty pizzas – a stuffed, deep dish pizza. There was a crust on top and a crust on bottom and the insides were full of so many wonderful ingredients.

It took a LONG time to come, but it was so worth it. When the chef came out with it, he also brought a scale to show how much it weighed.

So heavy!

So heavy!

Seven and a half pounds! It was gigantic. We each had one piece, so there was a ton left over. Next time I have visitors, I will recommend we eat this. It’s so good. But we will definitely phone the order in ahead of time.

As requested, here’s a picture of the inside:

7 1/2 pounds??? Most babies weigh less than that at birth! That is a ginormous amount of food! I’m glad it was worth the weight – it looks like a thing of beauty.

That tablecloth cracks me up. It looks so Hawaiian! Wait….. you are in Hawaii….

Good grief! What all is in that pizza? That thing is a monster!

So is this type of pizza where the term pizza pie comes from?

(Do you have a picture of the insides?)

Ah – I feel like I just saw a Lou Malnati’s from Chicago! LOVE the deep dish pizza. Congratulations on finding this place – we will definitely put it on our “must visit” list if/when we ever come to The Islands.

P.S. Is this place a “relative” of Cheeseburger in Paradise? Wonder if the owner is a Jimmy Buffet fan…

    Sorry I didn’t answer all these questions…

It was all pizza ingredients: tomato sauce, cheese, green peppers, onions, sausage, ham, pepperoni… I’m probably forgetting some stuff.

I did take a picture of the inside. It looks like lasagna to me. I’ll post it above.

The description did say it was like a Chicago deep-dish pizza.
