The Road to Hana

Yesterday was our trip to Hana. The point of driving to Hana isn’t really arriving there, it’s the journey. There are many fun sights along the way. One of the most notable is the black sand beach. It’s always fun to walk the beach, but yesterday was more full of excitement than usual. There was a big crowd, and the waves were crashing hard.

We did a few posed pictures, but I like this candid one.

On the trip back, we stopped at an overlook. It was a beautiful view.

There are so many breath-taking ocean vistas.

Our last stop of the return trip was at Ho’okipa Beach. It’s a popular surfing site, but it is also a constant and well-known sunning spot for sea turtles. It is against the law to touch them, but we could get pretty close and watch them.

If they weren't so cute, I think they might be scary. They're pretty big creatures.

Holy cow! When I was reading the lines above the last photo, I thought those things were rocks and I’d see turtles among them. They are ALL turtles! Whoa!

All those photos are wonderful. How good to see you all together and enjoying such beauty! 😀

What! No giant bamboo forest? I guess sea turtles are cooler. I concur with your tour guide decisions.
