Yesterday was our first day of school. It went well. I always feel so much better after the kids get there. When I’m just doing paperwork and planning, I feel stressed out and grumbly. When the kids arrive, I feel happy.
After school, we wait outside for the parents to drive up and get their kids. It is almost always sunny. The sun is hot, and I don’t like getting too much radiation on my skin, so I use an umbrella for shade.
Yesterday, it was really windy:
I stopped by Target to get a new umbrella. There was an enormously large one, but I thought I would feel silly holding that. Besides, it was black, and I thought it would feel hot in the sun. Instead, I got a colorful one:
I, too, have been using an umbrella for shade! There were some cool red plaid umbrellas at Super Saver in the clearance section. I love it. Instantly cooler.
We have a bunch of beach umbrellas on our playground for shade, too, and I’ve cut ‘wind slits’ in them so that they don’t get destroyed. I’m wondering about doing that for my shade umbrella, too. Do you want me to come over and cut up yours, too? 😉
Hehe… my new umbrella has vents. I’ll see if they work today. It’s supposed to be another windy day.
Wise purchase.
Hope your new umbrella’s wind vents work better than our 11′ x 11′ deck canopy’s wind top. In a good gust, the entire canopy acts like those bouncy houses – weeee! – and we scramble to re- position/repair it. (Even got 5-lb weights for each leg…sigh…)
