Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

You Eeediot!

The Maui comic con is happening this weekend. I went yesterday.

It was so much bigger this year. There were a LOT more people attending, and a LOT more of them were in costume. It is such an accepting atmosphere. I love it.

The vendors were in the same place as last year, but the artists were in a different building. There were more of them, so it was a bigger room. I walked past one artist who talked to me like he was trying to get me to hire him. I wondered if I looked like some kind of artist-hiring person. I did tell him that his drawings were gorgeous, because they were.

I was surprised and excited to see someone whose work I knew: one of the artists who worked on Ren and Stimpy. I hung around his table a little while he chatted with others. He had prints of some drawings he did. They were only $30, so I got one. It was a scene from “Space Madness” – one of my favorite Ren and Stimpy episodes!

He even signed it. Awesome!

Hahaha! I laughed out loud! That episode is a cornerstone of our personality formation. How fantastic that you got to meet him and that you have this momento that is labeled with your name!

As far as being an art-hiring guy, I can totally see that.

Your tag line reminded me of my brother-in-law, as he was a huge R&S fan back in the day.

I have a new regard for the ComicCon crowd since a former student from my Chicago days occasionally makes those rounds (he does amazing Disney and other licensed characters, IMHO.) Will have to inquire whether he’s ever done the Maui circuit, though. That can’t be a cheap investment.

Glad you got a memento you will undoubtedly enjoy hanging on one of your walls for ages to come. Carry on…
