Seasoned Towels

My favorite towels are ones that I got from IKEA. I’ve had them for quite a while. Lately, they’ve felt less soft – even kind of scratchy. Even more lately, they have smelled bad. I wash them with hot water and dry them on high heat, but they still smell kind of mildew-like. Yuck.

I went online looking for a solution. The most common suggestion is to use vinegar in the washing machine. The claim is that the towels have a buildup of detergent and fabric softener on them, and that is allowing bacteria to grow, and that the vinegar will strip it all off.

I tried it.

The preliminary results are good, but it’s only been a couple of days. We’ll see…

Go, vinegar! I am a believer in it, though I don’t remember to use it very often. That stinky liquid is like a pourable swiss army knife. 🙂
