The condo association has been doing tree trimming. They are coppicing all the trees. I had read that you should not coppice trees, but it’s a very common practice here on Maui. The trees they started with last week are already showing new growth.
It was supposed to happen on Tuesday, but they didn’t get to it. That gave me a chance to take a “BEFORE” picture.

Huh. The meaning of ‘coppice’ was clear from your photos, but I googled it anyway. I guess if you live in a place where you can leave a stick on the ground and it becomes a tree, chopping back the trees is not a problem. In face, they probably have to be careful to rake up the clippings or you’d have a n unwanted jungle on your hands.
