Since it was Sunday, we went to church yesterday. St. John has a big pipe organ, and an organist who plays it so well. He also arranges for other instrumentalists to play with him. Yesterday, it was some brass players.
I love organ music, and often cry during Sunday services here. Yesterday I had a little better time not crying because I was feeling sick, but I still enjoyed the music. I need to gather a playlist of organ pieces that Lutheran organists play…
That’s a good shot of Paul. One thing I always appreciate about him is when people clap afterward, he always points up. “All glory to God.” He’s a good egg.
Good organ music is indeed very moving, particularly when ones worship is not blessed with it every week any more. 🙁
Part of our vacation this July is scheduled to include a visit to the Lutheran church where a long-time friend is pastor in Chgo, IL; on my last visit their organist brought me to tears after about four measures of playing. Looking forward to a comparable experience in a few weeks!
I too can have a tear at that wonderful church! Something about…… everything!
