A Fine Fourth

It was a great Fourth of July. My must-see events are clogging and the parade. But I saw some bonus events as well.

The clogging was delightful. This year, there were fewer group dances and more solos. My favorite are the groups:

The firefighters do a contest to see who can push a barrel with a fire hose. It’s fun to watch. On hot days, it’s nice to stand in the resulting mist.

There is always pole-vaulting. It’s a little anxiety-inducing, but when people make it over the bar, it’s so exciting.

This year’s parade was good. Deborah couldn’t be on the steps because she hurt her foot. Hopefully it’s not broken. We still had our interactive parade experience and shouted at all the right times. There were only four Czech queens.

The evening ended with a cookout at Brent and Sandra’s. Lots of chatting and laughing and a little bit of fireworks. It was a nice end to the day.

I fly to LA today. I’ll stay a couple of days, then head on to Maui.

It was a fine, fine day and I’m sad to see it end. I’m sad you’re leaving, too. It’s always the highlight of the summer.

I’m glad your lungs have seemed to improve. Now we just need to get your foot on the mend. See if Denis can do anything about that, ok?
