Swatch Swap

A while back, I posted about a Swatch watch I found in my basement. Kat from Australia saw the post and said she was interested in the watch. I’m uncomfortable when it comes to buying and selling things, so I suggested that I send her the watch, and she send me something from Australia.

I sent the watch while I was in Nebraska. Kat emailed me to say it had arrived safely, and said she sent something back. It arrived on Thursday! Woo hoo! It was full of treats from Australia, and a fun post card! Thanks, Kat! It was perfect!

I decided I would take the treats to school and do a taste-test with my seventh graders.

There were two kinds of gummies, some “biscuits” (cookies) and some chocolates. I didn’t share the chocolates with the kids, because they were small, and I wanted them for myself 🙂 The gummies were fruity, but also reminded me of Twizzlers. I checked the ingredients, and sure enough, there was flour in them.

I cut the snakes in half to make sure there were enough of them.

The kids said the frogs tasted like Swedish fish.

The biscuits had a story that went back to World War I. They tasted like coconut macaroons. I liked them a lot. It was good the kids were there, or I would have eaten the whole package.
