Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Bigger Bloom

I want to do some re-potting on my lanai, but I keep getting back to my place too late. Instead of doing any gardening, I just want to eat something a rest a little before sleep.

Yesterday, I at least went out and admired my plants. The hibiscus was particularly admirable because it was blooming. The flowers are eventually supposed to be eleven inches across, but the catalog says that the bigger the plant is, the bigger the flowers are. The flower yesterday was certainly bigger than any it’s had so far…

So orangey...
So orangey…

I can’t wait to see the really big flowers…

Wow! So they’re like goldfish – they grow to fit their environment.

What do you do with the spent flowers? Can they just go back into the dirt or is that kinda cannibalistic?

How exciting! It’s just beautiful! You should press it! Then you can enjoy again!

    Ahoy!

Your hibiscus IS truly amazing, but what caused me to open your blog this morning is hearing on NPR on my way in to school that today is, blow me down, once again International Talk Like a Pirate Day. I’ve such fond memories of your humble annual acknowledgements of this and am sad that apparently nobody at my current school has a CLUE about it. So, sadly, this scallywag must close smartly with a yo ho ho and – even more sadly – a bottle of … water.
