I have been sitting around a lot, but I did finish a book. I read “Flowers for Algernon”. I had read some recommendation for it a while back, and it really stuck with me. I finally read it.
I liked it. It was published in 1959, so it certainly has dated language and cultural stuff, but that also makes it interesting. I got it off the bookshelf in my classroom, but I don’t think I’ll be returning it there. It has quite a few references to sex in it. It was sad, and I would never read it again, but for that reason, I pronounce it a well-written book, because it moved me toward emotion, even though I don’t like the emotion.
In other sad news, I have to cut my visit to LA short because of travel restrictions to Maui. I leave today.
Delta #2117. Depart LA 12:00pm. Arrive Kahului 3:11pm
Because there are so many sad things in this post, here is something happy. A picture of me and Beth on a two-seated bike. She texted it to me yesterday along with a bunch of other fun pictures from our past.
