Home Work

There’s a horrible bug on your shoulder! April Fools! Hahaha!

Yesterday was my first independent work day at home. I’m supposed to be getting ready for online school to start this coming Monday.

I actually worked! Woo hoo! I so often have focus problems, but yesterday…. well, I still had focus problems. I kept switching from job to job. But I was working. Good job, Brad!

I work at this table by my kitchen. There’s something uncomfortable about the chair or the table height or something. I’ll try to get it figured out. I’ll be sitting in this spot a lot in the coming days.

Good job, Brad! “Every thing I’m doing needs to be done.” That’s a phrase that goes through my mind when I move from job to job. It may not be in order, but work is getting done.

I would second figuring out the table height, and maybe even have a 2nd option, like moving to your countertop every so often. I don’t have an adult-sized work space, so I move from floor to kid table, but when I was in the Concordia classroom, there were actual desks and even a standing desk option. Today I am wearing my back brace because it’s been so. much. hunching.

I say that exact thing!! Everything i’m doing needs to be done! May not be in order but it has to happen sometime! Ah!

I was a mess with this for a while because I kept moving from one thing to another. I finally made a schedule, and it has been so much better. So now when I see an email has come in, I ignore it until it’s Check Email Time.

    I need routine.

I have trouble knowing what to do first? I want to do everything at the same time! I bounce around too but things get done once way or another! I stand when i work on the computer and i like that but do get weary after a while, ya gotta move around here and there. How about a cushion for your chairs? Hey, take some schoolwork and go to a furniture store and sit at several tables, do a little work, and see if a different height feels better? Don’t forget your tape measure….

God bless all of you online educators out there in Bradaptatinland! Despite my past use (and relative mastery) of platforms including Blackboard, Blackbaud, Edline, and Moodle, I am now juggling Google Classroom, our school’s teacher blog sites, Zoom…and doing a moderately horrible job of it all. I feel so incompetent and know I am driving our IT to the brink. When even one student cannot seem to see or access what I have put out there for them, it kills me. At first I know I invested all my waking hours trying to make things perfect – and finally had to wave the white flag, give myself some grace, and admit “this is the best I got – it’s gonna have to do”. I now just continue to field emails about problems, occasionally place a phone call to a student’s home, and take each on a case-by-case basis.

We have a work break now (4/8 thru 4/14) for Holy Week/Easter/mental health) so I only put in 3 hours this morning. Hope to “fast” from all of it tomorrow (since I hope to actually fast then anyway). Deo volente there will only be a few more weeks of this (but in the pit of my gut I’m screaming “What? Now they’re saying fall online teaching might be the case too?!”)

Let’s lift one another in prayer through this…
