Interesting Asides

I painted my living room yesterday. Woo hoo! I can’t do before and after pictures yet because I have to do touch-ups today and then put everything back where it goes.

But I do want to mention a couple of things that amazed me while I was painting.

The first thing was a hook that the previous owner left in the wall. The screw holding it up was SO LONG. I was using a screw driver to back it out, and it took forever. That hook could’ve held my couch up! Sheesh!

The second thing was the paint cup I was using. I like using a store-bought paint cup because it’s easy to hold, and cleans up well. Yesterday, I accidentally discovered something else.

There’s a magnet that holds your brush by its metal binder and lets it drip back into the cup! Amazing!

Yay painting project! Good for you! I use a cottege cheese or sour cream container for the paint and seem to never set my brush down?, but that magnet deal is genius! I’ve been painting our new, not assembled yet, chicken coop with brush paint and oh my there are a million trim edges. I could have used a magnet cup these last few days so i could rest.

Yay for you! I admire your productiveness! I can’t wait to see the before-and-after shots! I see that you are using your favorite wall color! Your home will feel very zen………..

I’ve done a lot of painting recently. I just pour the paint in the paint tray and keep a brush in there to do cutting in. I put a rubber band on the brush handle to keep it from slipping into the tray. I cut in a section, then roll the wall. It worked really well on big areas. I also found a brush and roller keeper at Home Depot. They worked great! Didn’t have to wash them for a week. Have fun! I’ve been using a similar color on some walls.

I’ve been watching a lot of Property Brothers episodes where I get to watch THEM paint, break down walls, etc. Does that count?

Good for you, Brad – good use of self-quarantining time, I am sure. I’m lucky I vacuum once a week and cook when pressed to.
