Douglas Approaches

There is a hurricane or tropical storm headed for Hawaii. It’s called Douglas. It was a category 4 when it was still far away, but as it approaches, it gets weaker. It’s supposed to start coming in the wee hours of the morning, then be here through the day.

The predictions were scary on Friday, but as yesterday went on, it seemed like things were less and less. Still, many things have been canceled, including church this morning. Dang. It was supposed to be my first in-person Sunday worship service since March.

Since the predictions seem to be just for a bad rainstorm, I didn’t do a lot of moving plants around on my lanai. I took down some of the smaller ones. I did bring in my caladium though. It has such thin leaves, I was afraid they might be damaged by the wind.

EDIT: Douglas turned to the side and passed by without much effect. In Kihei we only got a little rain – enough to soak the ground, which was nice. No wind to speak of.

I’m praying that it is just a bunch of rain and nothing is damaged. Sorry about church. 🙁 Stay safe!

Sorry you be able to go to church, but I’m glad the storm is weakening. Sing hymns from your lanai!!

Today is our first in person back to church day.

We’ve had mean rain and winds many days lately, resulting in flash flooding, power outages, and missed swim gatherings at Deb F’s house…but I digress. Praying you all were spared the worst of all that and Douglas was merely “Little Doug” by the time he arrived….
