Floor Plans

I tried to have my lanai floor repaired about a year ago, but everything fell through. This time, it’s going to happen! Starting today!

The contractor is going to tear the floor off, replace the soft parts of the sub-floor, then build it back up and tile it. Nice! I picked out the tiles on Saturday. They look like wood, so the lanai will be deck-like, and they’re grey, so they’ll hide the dust that blows all over Kihei.

I had to take all my plants off the lanai so they could work.

He said it would take two or three days, so I’m just keeping the plants in my spare bedroom. There isn’t much light in there, but the plants are strong and can take some time without direct sunlight

Yippee!! How exciting that this is actually happening! I never knew that you could put tile outside. Will he use a weather-resistant grout? This is all new information for me.

Stay healthy, little plants – your new home is coming!

It’s just regular sanded grout. I did pay attention to tile labels. There were ones that said indoor/outdoor, and that’s the kind I chose. He also said they would be waterproofing under the tiles and sealing them after putting them in place. I haven’t don’t much tiling, so I don’t know if that’s a standard thing or something special for outside.
